What is Zulresso?

Zulresso is the first medicine specifically approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to treat Post Partum Depression (PPD) in adults. It was approved by he FDA in March 2019. In clinical trials, ZULRESSO achieved a significant reduction in depressive symptoms after infusion. The reduction in depressive symptoms were also seen at the 30 day follow up.

Zulresso is administered through intravenous (IV) for a total of 60 hours. Patients must be under the surveillance of trained healthcare providers for the duration of the infusion. The most common side effects are sedation, dry mouth, flushing of the skin, or loss of consciousness.

What if my provider is not a Taylor Regional Provider?

The Certified Nurse-Midwives and Physicians at Taylor Regional would be happy to accept a referral from your provider for this treatment. You may also contact us directly to schedule an appointment to discuss whether ZULRESSO is appropriate for you. If you choose to proceed with the infusion, we will be happy to contact your provider so that you may follow up with them following your treatment.
